- Burj Khalifa May Have a New Competitor
The title of the world's tallest building could be nearing its end, as Burj Khalifa faces a potential challenger: Jeddah Tower.
Burj Khalifa, long considered the tallest building in the world, may soon lose its title. In Saudi Arabia, work has resumed on the Jeddah Tower project, which is expected to surpass the height of the Dubai skyscraper.
In development since 2013, Jeddah Tower has experienced several construction pauses. However, according to recent statements from Prince Al Waleed bin Talal and published renderings, the project has entered an active phase. Currently, 63 of the 157 floors have been completed, with total investments exceeding AED 1 billion.
Jeddah Tower is expected to exceed 1.5 kilometers in height, towering over Burj Khalifa. The remaining construction, estimated at AED 6 billion, will be financed by Jeddah Economic Company.
The tower will serve as the focal point of the broader Jeddah Economic Company City development, which will span 5.3 million square meters. Completion of the entire project is anticipated in the first half of 2028.
Interestingly, the architect behind Jeddah Tower, Adrian Smith, also designed Burj Khalifa.
