Self-driving trams and road expansion in Dubai by 2027

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a $4.4 billion project.

It includes 22 initiatives, among them:

• Road network development with length of 12,000km. Dubai's capacity will rise by 114,000 vehicles per hour
• Creation of self-driving trams on virtual tracks. Trams with 3 carriages will accommodate 300 passengers
• Extension of bus lanes. 6 routes will increase ridership by 10% and bus arrival rates will rise by 42%
• Establishment of 557km of cycling tracks. Project will support 44 million cycling trips annually
