Sebastian Alvarez sets world record by jumping from helicopter onto artificial wave in Abu Dhabi
Extreme athlete Sebastian Alvarez from the Red Bull team made a historic jump, setting a new world record. The Chilean jumped from a helicopter at an altitude of 3,657 meters and landed on an artificial wave of the Surf Abu Dhabi surf club, located on the island of Hudayriyat.
The height of the wave on which the athlete landed was 2.3 meters. Alvarez was attached to a special surfboard, which allowed him to perform this incredible stunt.
This daring act not only set a new world record, but also became a bright presentation of the new Surf Abu Dhabi project, which promises to become one of the main tourist attractions of the UAE. The surf club, created in collaboration with the Kelly Slater Wave Co, will feature the world's largest artificial wave and longest surfing "slope".
