By October 7, 2022, residential property owners or tenants must register their cohabitants on the Dubai REST app.

This was announced by the Dubai Land Department on 23 September 2022. This was facilitated by changes in family laws in the UAE to now allow unrelated flatmates to live together. The department's regulation applies to all owners, developers, management companies, and tenants.
