Dubai Police Reminds the Public of the Legal Responsibility for Claiming Found Items

Dubai Police is reminding both residents and visitors of the importance of returning found items to their rightful owners. According to UAE law, keeping found items is a criminal offense that carries serious consequences, including imprisonment and fines.

Anyone who finds a lost item must hand it over to the nearest police station within 48 hours. This rule applies to all found items, regardless of their value.

How to Return a Found Item:

  • Visit the police: Go to the nearest police station and report the found item.
  • Provide details: Offer as much information as possible about the item, including its description, and the time and place it was found.
  • Await results: The police will take the necessary steps to locate the rightful owner.

Reports can also be submitted via the Smart Police Station (SPS) or by calling 901.
