The Climate Change Conference

The Climate Change Conference, COP28, is taking place in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

COP28 stands for the 28th international meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The conference is held every year.

It aims to:

• Address the climate crisis by limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C

• Achieve net-zero emissions by 2050

• Develop the Loss and Damage Fund

• Assess the measuring up to the goals of the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement

• Fast track progress towards sources of clean energy

The ultimate objective of all agreements under the UNFCCC is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system.

Over 70,000 delegates from 198 countries are expected to attend: about 160 world leaders, as well as businessmen, climate scientists, journalists, and various experts.
