This post showcases the UAE’s most picturesque destinations—from majestic mountain peaks to serene mangrove forests and desert conservation areas (watch the video).

1. Hatta Dam

Location: Dubai

Hatta Dam is a breathtaking spot in the Hatta mountain region, around 130 km from central Dubai.

This location draws outdoor enthusiasts and photography lovers. Visitors can rent a kayak, paddle boat, or try SUP surfing, as well as enjoy a picnic or even camp along the shores. For those who love hiking and biking, Hatta offers the UAE's longest mountain trail, featuring 53 km of biking paths and 33 km of hiking routes.

Another must-visit spot here is the iconic Hatta sign—the tallest landmark in the area, which has become a popular photo location for travelers.

2. Jebel Jais

Location: Ras Al Khaimah

Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE, is located in Ras Al Khaimah and stands about 1,934 meters above sea level. Known for its spectacular views and thrilling activities, this destination attracts both nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Jebel Jais is home to the world’s longest zipline, stretching 2.83 km, where speeds can reach up to 150 km/h. For those who prefer a calmer experience, Jebel Jais offers hiking trails with panoramic views, picnic areas, and numerous viewing platforms to admire the majestic mountains and valleys.

At the summit, there is a popular open-air restaurant 1484 by Puro. As the highest restaurant in the UAE, perched at 1,484 meters, it provides guests with delicious cuisine alongside sweeping views of Ras Al Khaimah's rugged landscapes.

3. Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Centre

Location: Dubai

Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Centre is a unique natural reserve in the Al Marmoom Desert, near Dubai. Spanning over 40 highland desert areas and 10 km of lakes, it’s one of the largest natural parks in the world, dedicated to preserving desert ecosystems and protecting rare species.

This reserve is home to 19 endangered animal species, around 500 flamingos, over 360 other bird species, and 39 plant species. A highlight of Al Marmoom is the Al Qudra area, which features expansive artificial wetlands like Love Lakes, Expo Lake, and the famous Al Qudra Lake.

Al Marmoom offers a variety of recreational activities: a Bedouin oasis and a historical village for learning about indigenous cultures, stargazing platforms, and sunset viewpoints. For those who enjoy active pursuits, an 84-kilometer cycling track winds through the scenic desert landscapes.

4. Al Zorah Nature Reserve

Location: Ajman

Al Zorah Nature Reserve, located along the Arabian Gulf coast in Ajman, spans approximately one million square meters. Known for its extensive mangrove forests, sandy beaches, and shallow lagoons, it provides a tranquil escape into nature.

The reserve is home to over 60 bird species, including pink flamingos that often gather in large flocks. The mangroves have an essential habitat for fish, crabs, and other marine life, as well as a vital nesting area for birds.

Al Zorah offers various outdoor activities. Kayaking is a popular way to explore the mangrove forests, allowing visitors to observe flamingos and other wildlife up close without disturbing their natural habitat. Additionally, the reserve features walking trails and observation platforms.

5. Jubail Mangrove Park

Location: Abu Dhabi

Jubail Mangrove Park is Abu Dhabi’s first educational park dedicated to the mangrove ecosystem. Situated on Jubail Island, it encompasses extensive tropical mangrove forests, which play a crucial role in coastal protection and biodiversity conservation.

The park features a 2-kilometer wooden boardwalk that winds through the mangroves, complete with rest areas and viewing platforms where visitors can observe birds, crabs, fish, and even turtles.

Jubail Mangrove Park also has kayaking and guided tours, providing insights into mangrove ecology, their role in preventing coastal erosion, and the UAE’s conservation efforts. The mangroves on Jubail Island are vital in absorbing carbon dioxide, making them an important asset in the fight against climate change.
