About Potential Risks of Non-Stick Cookware

The UAE Ministry of Health has issued a formal warning about potential health risks associated with non-stick cookware, particularly Teflon-coated items.

Recent reports show that overheating non-stick coatings can release toxic fumes, causing a condition known as "Teflon flu," with symptoms similar to the flu, like fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

Data from the United States indicates over 250 hospitalizations last year related to this issue. Although no cases have been reported in the UAE, the Ministry advises residents to exercise caution when using non-stick cookware.
