Louvre Abu Dhabi Presents a Unique Exhibition of Mexican Artifacts
Louvre Abu Dhabi has announced the opening of a new exhibition showcasing unique artifacts from ancient Mexican civilizations. Running until April 2025, this exhibition marks the first time these remarkable artifacts will be displayed in the region.
Among the exhibits:
Monumental Olmec Head: Weighing 5,840 kg, this impressive sculpture exemplifies Olmec monumental art and highlights their complex social structure.
Teotihuacan Incense Burner: Crafted between 1 and 100 AD, these burners were used with incense made from charcoal and copal, native to Central America.
Stone Mask of a Human Face: Designed in Teotihuacan style, this mask reflects the ancient Mexicans' perspectives on life and the world.
Maya Ritual Mask: A recent discovery, this unique archaeological piece showcases the intricate burial rituals of the Maya civilization.
Carved Column from Chichen Itza: This column, classified as an Atlantean statue, showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of Mayan sculptors and architects.
